Schools sucks?

Prove me wrong. Lmao. But na to be more specific, what are your thoughts & opinions on college?

Is it worth going into debt to get a degree that hardly even gets you a job anywhere anymore?

Is it possible to cash flow college expenses to avoid going into debt for a degree?

Or is it better all around to just prove your know-how in a specific field without a degree.

Do you think you need a college to teach you something & pay for that education or educate yourself via the interwebs & books?

Me personally taught myself nearly everything through my own studies & experience.

I've gone to college and for a short period of time (nearly two years?) but left because they taught me nothing I didn't already know and didn't teach anything practical in the real world tbh.

Thoughts?

I totally forgot about this thread, rip lation and his thread.

But nah in all honesty, school isn't for everyone.

I haven't finished school yet, not because I can't be bothered with it as I've tried multiple times to go back to school, even tried some online courses.

Don't get me wrong, I think people should at least give it a chance, maybe you won't get far but that's alright.

I'm not 100% on the system in America but here in Iceland it won't cost you a fortune to get education (in most cases) so I can't exactly comment on the debt part.

I agree with Lation on the fact as everything I know ive taught myself. I believe knowledge and experience come with actually doing what you're trying to learn.

I may be different than most to some degree but I find it nearly impossible to learn something by writing it or reading it, I really need to just watch and do it for it to stick.

As for the debt side of it; I find it completely ridiculous that the government even allows people to go in debt TO LEARN something. They sit back and watch the billions of dollars they will make from those who tried to better their lives, Truly disgusting.

I also agree with Kari, School is not for everyone. Some excel in it, others do not. Its personal preference really.

you have to see school as a back up plan incase you can't succeed with whatever you wanna be in life

Yeah it's a good backup plan, but worth the money? I'm not so sure.

Yeah school is a majority based on the individual and their ability to learn in a classroom but I don't know how Iraq works but in America you'll be in debt forevssss.

Yeah I've never been good in school, as a matter of fact I skipped 6th, 7th & 8th grade and went right into highschool from 5th grade. So I'm the definition of big dumb; but also never quite understood how to learn in that medieval way. However I did end up graduating because the principal (now superintendent of the district) fudged my grades just enough to pass with my diploma 😄 hahaha

Depends on where you live, for me for instance, it's not that costly as it is over in the States. I can get a bachelors and masters for maybe less than 15k, not to mention if you have a job while you are studying that debt you owe is even less.

Currently it costs me ~$1400 yearly for my bachelors, which is 4 years.

for masters it's the same costs except it's 3 years.

As a recent college grad, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I worked my ass off in highschool and got a lot of scholarships to get into school for cheap. I went to a smaller school that was a lot cheaper. Combine those two, and I have less than $10,000 of debt- which I have already paid off since starting my job in the middle of December.

My first job out of school gets me a very nice salary, 22 days pto plus 8 holidays, a healthy health/dental insurance and a good 401k match percent. Not many 22 year olds can say that.

I dont think Every kid needs to be pushed to a 4 year education, but going to a college like that or a trade school benefits the average person so much. You definitely don’t need it to succeed, but it puts you on the right path.

Trade schools are something that should be pushed more in society. There are a lot of trades that can net you a lot of money, but at the cost of your body. I have a squishy desk job that also allows for hands on and travel. I love it.

For the people saying you learn better on the job, everyone does. College simply proves to your employer that you know to learn and you have the baseline knowledge to get into the field.

So that right there is my opinion. Sorry if there is stupid spelling or auto corrected things. Phone is being dumb lol
