Auto Pickup Clues

  1. 1. If there were a perk that picked up clues off the ground, like the crystal key, gp, and charm perks through donating, how should it be obtainable?

    • Through a certain donator rank
      2
    • Achievements
      5
    • Doing a certain number of each clue
      3
    • Something else (provide an example as a reply)

No support to auto pickups, it's not hard to pick them up.

Only adjustment I'd make in regard to this is to adjust the Game Filter to list Clue Scroll drops when the tab is set to Filtered. You could also adjust the value so that these appear as coloured text drops instead of white which blend in with low tier drops to help find them on the ground.

Y'all some lazy ass mf's voting for this shiet

There's literally 3 other perks that do the same thing for similar items, so it's obviously not "shiet." You're welcome to your opinion that you think it shouldn't be supported, but constructive criticism is the only valid criticism.

Like most perks on Ely, they are always locked behind some sort of pay wall...

If this idea were to be implemented i'd suggest its after a lengthy and grindly set of achievements, and made to be an item that you constantly have to recharge with ingame gp E.G.(10k gp per charge) maxing at 1,000 charges.

This was it also acts as a money sink for the game aswell, which is always needed...

Personally I'm not fussed with the idea of it as; well stated by @DevilSkag there are 3 other perks which allow for automatic collection of Ckeys, Charms and GP. However really believe that it should be earned.

You can set them to highlight in the new Runelite settings

Definitely agree that it should be earned, and I would even like to see the other perks earned through similar methods you've described as secondary methods to donating. Though I don't necessarily agree with the fairness for people who struggle financially (I've donated less than 1% of my total donation amount at this point) since getting ingame scrolls isn't too hard in my opinion. If this idea passed, I would be fine with whatever the majority consensus was.

Good discussion here but want to address @Jake's statement: "Like most perks on Ely, they are always locked behind some sort of pay wall... Which really isnt fair to those players who struggle financially IRL."

I feel this is wildly inaccurate - even just on the basis of, it isn't a game developer nor any company's obligation to remove the option to purchase from their games or products for the sole reason that "some people may struggle financially so it's not fair" - then they also shouldn't sell Lamborghini's because it ain't fair I can't buy one. That's my take on that in a broad and generalized view - the world don't work that way, nor is life even fair in the slightest. But more relevant to Ely, point #2: Just looking at the Hiscores, they are littered with donors & non-donors - there is nothing holding back a player who can't afford to spend money. What happens when you do spend money on Ely is more or less just a sped-up, less annoying version of the game (no more burning food, no more broken gems, no more run fatigue, no more overload damage) - none of these are essential to anyone's game play. Point #3: Was exactly what @DevilSkag already pointed out: the man has the Diamond Patron rank, which is $3,000+ spent on Ely, one of the most prestigious ranks & he says "I've donated less than 1% of my total donation amount at this point" - his case is not unique, I can rattle off numerous players who have these extremely high donor ranks that have barely spent $50 of their own money & are $3,000+ donors. If there was an actual paywall on Ely, this would not be possible, which brings me to point #4: You been here from the beginning, and you may remember - the first update I published on Ely after purchasing it was reducing prices in the store - you can still see this in the Updates section on the forums, it's literally the first update. I reduced prices. The following month, I reduced even more prices. The following year I introduced a full revamp to the Donor system: "When you become a Donor now, as small as the Guthix ($5) Donor you now receive access to all this content automatically in the Donor Zone. No longer will you have to purchase an Unlockable to fish Rocktails. The moment you become a Donor to Ely, you receive access to this in DZ. As well as all the others such as: Loom Crafting, Warlock Hunting, Gold Mineral Mining, etc." On top of this update, Runespan was also made free content - completely removed from being a donor perk. You of all people would remember, each and every one of these bits of content used to literally have to be purchased individually to access, I removed all that. Not long after those updates, I completely removed Rocktails from being locked behind a donor rank requirement and was made free content. And more recently - I completely removed the Aura's being locked behind a specific amount donated, and turned it into a voting requirement. Lastly, we introduced Scrolls to Ely specifically for the purpose of transferring, selling & buying donations from players with in-game wealth. That update alone completely abolished any sort of "paywall" that may have existed in the past.

I believe it is abundantly clear that nothing on Ely is unfair to players who 'struggle financially' - nor do I even personally believe should any company, game, etc cater to those who can't afford to spend money on their products - then don't buy it. If businesses functioned on that premise, our economy would collapse. This isn't an attack on you or anything Jake, I just want to make my intentions and points clear to others who may read your statement and think it's true.

Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

Just note I wasn't trying to undermine the integrity of the server's donor system; merely point out that not everything ingame has to be "locked" behind something. Hence this may be the perfect opportunity to start releasing content as rewards from Achievements and/or Quests. Therefore keeping people ingame longer aswell.

@LationDon't worry mate, I know thats not aimed at me personally LYfam ❤️

Just re-reading over this suggestion as I found recently that RS3 have the same sort of thing...

Maybe we could implement it via a new quest (looking to write one) to act like a "rune pouch". Whereby it picks up clues automatically off the floor and stores them in the bag. Maxing out at say 100 of each Tier clue?

Regarding this, I support the addition of a storage container being added similar to the Rune Pouch where you can store Clue Scrolls whilst out on slayer tasks/boss trips etc as they do fill up your inventory, although I would only support this if the pick up system stayed the same. There's no reason to have Clue Scrolls auto pick up, picking them up manually is fine and not that difficult (you could make it so that they automatically go into this new container, but even that's a push that I'm not 100% sold on).

If Clue Scrolls became automatically picked up, we'd have a similar situation with Blue Dragons where people would just camp them all day with a cannon. Automatic pickups is a 100% no support from me.

I only propse this as an alternative from having a benefit that automatically picks up items off the floor (eg. Crystal key donor benefit). Hence the proposition of having to charge it, and it having a limit on what it can store.

However im in 100% agreement with you Callum.

From an inventory management perspective; it would definitely be more beneficial for farming and bossing runs to have a pouch (to save space) than it would be for auto pick up. I agree that for what it takes to pick up loot and scrolls, most people do this naturally as is. I support a pouch that is well balanced as above recommendations from others.

Cant say i agree with you 100% tbh, and this is a full attack towards you btw bro. Why are there still so many items stuck behind a paywall for irons, its been so long now since ironmen have been a thing and we have so many items that you simply cannot obtain due to being stuck in monthly boxes and the summer shop.

EDIT: I mean combat items not shitty cosmetics

Sort it out mate!

But overall support for auto pick up clues, nice perk to have and would be great for some achievement unlocks/perks to be implemented as this was something that should of been done before even releasing the achievement rework, instead of kicking out an update and totally removing the old rewards that you used to get, achievements are pointless as of now.

My entire post was about paywalls, and how they've been completely removed. What are you on about, theres 'so many items' that irons cannot obtain? That's hella unrelated, but can you list what combat items your talking about please.
