OSRS Achievement Diary Rewards

Recommended Posts

Seeing as there's an endgame set being developed for pvm I thought it would be cool to bring one in from OSRS for skilling. I have reviewed all of the perks from the diary reward pieces and I think there's a sufficient amount of noteworthy perks to make it worthwhile for pvmers and skillers.

I think this would fit in well with the idea of making the skilling pieces untradeable by combining them with this set to unlock perks relevant to that skill. I also think having the completed set giving an overall increased xp bonus for all skills would be cool.

With all skilling outfits removed from the skilling shop, all of the achievement diary pieces could be added. Over time as you collect all of the skilling outfits through their respective skilling activities you would add them to either a specific piece or a system added that destroys them to activate the perks that are complimentary for that skill.

I modified some of these to align more with a private server setting than regular Runescape, so if anything appears to be underpowered of overpowered please point it out. I've intentionally left out some pieces as the perks they had did not seem very good. I did not refine the list of perks per item to make them more equal to one another. A reasonable way to make each piece relevant would be to make each piece a certain % of benefit and you'd need the whole set to receive the full effect. Each piece would be a significant amount of skilling points but would not have to be equal in price.

*passive perks will work without wearing the set so long as it is unlocked

*active perks will only work if the set corresponding piece is worn

-Double tokkul from fight caves and kiln (passive)

Rada's Blessing

-Small chance to catch an extra fish while fishing (active)

-Blessing gives extra prayer points (active)

-Extra slayer points (passive)

-Reduced chance to burn food (active)

Morytania Legs

-Increased slayer xp (active)

-Increased prayer xp (active)

-Slightly increased chance of rolling Barrows armor (active)

-Increased firemaking xp (active)

-Bonecrusher gives guilded altar xp increase (passive with bonecrusher)

Varrock Armor

All suggestions/feedback is appreciated.

I feel like associating Skilling Outfit pieces with the Diary pieces is a little too confusing and would be very difficult to explain to players when they ask questions.

For this reason, in my opinion I think it's best to keep the Bonus XP sets completely separate from any Diary sets. If bank space is an issue for people who want to own all sets, that's what we have a costume room for in PoH. (when it's finally developed and added in)

However, I do like the idea of this achievement diary set being incorporated into gameplay somehow - whether that be via an elite set of skilling achievements or open-world style achievement set that can remain separate from the PvM branch of the game. This would also open the door to having a broader spectrum of requirements for the Trimmed Completionist Cape when it's developed.

The passive & active bonuses you've suggested seem to be fair and appropriate - however with my above concern about combining the Diary & Skilling outfits I do not think having XP bonuses is needed. Below are some other concerns I have.

Karamja

-Chance of receiving an extra agility ticket from adv courses (active)

I do not see the relevance of Karamja having the Agility ticket bonus due to their being no way of training the skill on the island. I think it could be better suited to the Explorer's ring which has the run regeneration perk. (ties in with Agility)

Morytania

-Slightly increased chance of rolling Barrows armor (passive)

I feel this should be active, so that it's down to the player to remember to put the legs on when looting the barrows chest.

Pretty much agree with goddess here, This set would be great implemented into the game, But i feel it would fit better being a real achievement diary rather than an upgradable set of skilling items.

As for the perks, they all look pretty reasonable and add some pretty worthwhile perks to the game. Some of the perks above are listed down to be tied into the PVM set, which will later be revealed 😉 But we as skilling has a wide range of abilities, we should be able to replace those with perks just as good.

Thank you for the feedback! Some excellent points you bring forward and I would agree that it could be needlessly confusing for some players. Initially I think my idea was to consolidate all of the skilling outfit sets into the diary set eliminating the need to switch items depending on the activity the player was doing. Not super significant but we see a similar concept with the endgame PVM set. If the diary set had the same xp boosts that the skilling outfits have then it's basically the same thing just without having an elaborate system.

To clarify, the set piece perks would not be region restricted for the respective area that it comes from. I can understand the confusion since that's how it is in OSRS and I didn't outline that the perks from this set would be global. As for the Barrows roll chance, I wouldn't have a problem changing that to be an active perk. I'll adjust the original post to reflect as much.
