Development blog: Ironman Overhaul II

Hey boys, as we set off into July, this month i plan to integrate the previously discussed ironman changes into the game, early this month. The changes to ironman will be continual after this update, with anything crucial we might've missed being rectified.  There are many more changes to come that might have been missed in the post, but will be included in the full update post.

A big change we're looking to bundle with this update, is the highly requested group ironman. We may require testers for this game-mode, so make sure to stay active in the discord 😉 

For now, here's a list of all the major changes we're going ahead with. Take care everyone!

 

 

    Ironman gamemodes only:

- Remove irons getting insta's from rewards, this includes donator benefits etc.
- Restrict them from using training zone.
- Remove drop rate well benefits.
- Convert every existing iron account to "Legacy ironman / hardcore / uim", Create new sections for these gametypes on the hiscores, effectively clearing the existing sections.
- EXCLUSIVE STORE - Create an ironman instance of the exclusive store, that will house untradable versions of the top monthly items for EP, at limited quantities. (This idea is currently still being expanded upon and is subject to change)

- Remove vote tickets being claimable on these accounts.
- Nerf ckeys drop table, add useful things
- RANGE STORE - Remove dragon darts, rune bolts, remove msb, dbow, rune cbow, all dhide armors.
- MAGIC STORE - Remove mystic and dagon hai, move dagon hai to NPC drops somewhere
- GENERAL STORE - Remove glory
- CONSUMABLE STORE - Remove monkfish, all potions, add regular str, atk and def pots.
- VOTING REWARDS - Remove xp lamps, skilling boxes, infinity robes, anything not solely cosmetic.

 


         Collateral Gamemode Changes:

- Add "forlorn primal" weapons to dungeoneering, same stats a primal but untradable.
- Forlorn primal weapons need to be charged like chaotics, repair costs double chaotics.
- Add objects / fishing spots to the un-used fishing guild, require a fishing skill cape to enter.
- Allow armadyl runes to be crafted, at the cost of 1x Corrupt essence / armadyl shard per 50 Runes, can be crafted on the altar at ruins.
- Increase med tier seed drop quantities from specific sources, For example rannars.
- Add specific items removed from shops to certain slayer monsters / bosses, example: Dagon hai

Can Legacy Ironman accounts be changed into the new version, or will we have to create a new account all together?

 

Any option to reset an account to keep the username if that is the case?

I like how the overall structure from the last post has pretty much been carried it into this post. With a few minor changes made here and there.

Looking forward to what this update brings!

They will not be able to be changed. That would kinda ruin the whole point 😛

If you want an account name, you'd have to get the current one deleted, then remake. If your up for that, Lation can help ya 😄

 

But yeah, New accounts will have to be made to get on the hiscores

As a change to the ironman mode, I would definitely like to see the secondary stores for summoning and herblore removed for ironmen. It is not too difficult to get the secondaries for these skills and would actually add challenge back to the skills. Right now summoning is basically free.

I personally disagree with the herblore portion of this suggestion. I think herbs are rare enough. Summoning could go either way, but I don’t think we should remove just for the sake of making it a grind. Could be in the minority, though.

I think thats where we disagree, I don't think its for the sake of making it a grind. I think that it stays true to the mode and plays into why there is an overhaul in the first place. Considering You only need like 500 secondaries for 1-99 I don't think thats its too much of an additional burden.

I’m not worried about to 99. I’m worried about making potions for bossing after 99. To me, in a private server you shouldn’t need to get things like that. But I completely understand thinking how you do. I just don’t think it’s necessary on private server where herbs are already limited.

That's fair. And yeah I would actually kinda argue more for not have secondaries available for post 99 ha. But yeah I understand where you are coming from. I wonder how other people will feel bringing that to a vote. I know votes for making ironman more difficult haven't gone my way in the past lol

Gotten caught up with IRL Stuff. Will be planning to roll this over to next month 😄

Any plans on HCIM not getting any xp buffs (Wells, and donator xp buff). I would like to see if anyone has opinions on this because if the HCIM update is suppose to be a hard overhaul I would like to see this implemented. I wouldn't mind voting ticket xp boost because it would force people to vote to get more xp on HCIM. But besides that let me know what you think @Lation, @Splash.

All ironman modes are under the same umbrella.
The 'Hardcore' just means death is permanent and has no correlation to actually being 'Harder' than the other two modes. 

With that said, I do agree that vote ticket xp should be allowed for Irons as they vote themselves to earn it. Every ironman has the opportunity to vote, so there is no unfair advantage to be gained. Whereas the well of goodwill could be active at certain times of the day when some Iron's are not online, which allows others that unfair advantage.

To summarise what I've said above; Yes for vote tickets and No for well of goodwill.
