Training Area changes

The training area is a fantastic addition that makes getting started much better for new players. There are a couple things that i think could make it much better though.

 

1. don't start the timer until the monster you are assigned has been attacked by you.

the area isn't very big but the timer is also very short so this reduces task efficiency. could also just make the timer longer per task.

 

2. don't change tasks until the monster you are currently attacking has been killed.

it's kind of frustrating when the timer ends and you're still killing your task.

 

3. change the casket rewards to clue scrolls instead, add the hard clue scroll, and make them much cheaper.

maybe i'm just extremely unlucky but clue scrolls besides the elite scroll don't drop very often and i think this would be a perfect place to guarantee them for a price.

 

4. add a free instance clock for the area since sometimes it gets crowded.

it's a bit annoying when there's a decent number of players and multiple people have the same task. 

 

some or all, tell me what ya'll think about these.

I think it's important to note that this training area is meant to be a good method for new players/starters to begin their journey on Ely.

On that note, I feel while it's good they can get various starter items from the shop, it also means they end up spending a lot of time there instead of exploring the rest of the content that Ely has to offer.

 

I'll post my thoughts on each different suggestion.

1. This would be beneficial if the timer stays at 50 seconds, since it allows the player to start the task when they are ready rather than being in a rush to find their target.

2. Also a good follow up to number 1 as it means points are not getting missed and they've already started the kill. Some of the NPCs take longer time to kill than others, making it less efficient to kill them for the 50 second duration so it would add more value to killing those.

3. Personally I feel the caskets should be removed altogether and there should not be any clue scrolls in the shop either. Clues should be obtained from drops to make them feel more rewarding, much in the same way that it feels on RS.

4. I do not feel like this is needed as if anything, the time spent in train needs to be shortened for new players. It should be a very quick brief area where they can earn some basic gear and then they can be encouraged to explore Ely and venture into the rest of the game.

 

The shop in general should have certain items removed, like the berserker ring. Why have this ring in there but not the others? It should be obtained from DKS only.
Basic gear such as torso, dragon armour is fine as this is low level gear and isn't going to ruin the economy in the bigger picture.

The potions can be removed, as they can be obtained from Gerrant at home. Abyssal whip should be replaced with a dragon scimitar to make killing abby demons viable and boost the selling of whips to new players.

Amulet of Fury doesn't need to be in this shop either, again meaning it can be traded between players rather than easily obtained by everyone.

There has been a lot of talk about training zone. First off, my replies are for regular accounts only. Ironman are a whole other story. 
 

1. Great idea. It sucks when you have to run from the far northeast to the far southwest. You only have 30 seconds to kill and the task is over. 
 

2. This one could go either way for me. Creates kind of a sense of urgency for that last one. And if part 1 gets added, you don’t have to worry about missing out on the start of the new task. So I’m in different on this one. 
 

3. I also really like. Clue are very inconsistent at time. Especially certain rarities. If some other suggestions get added (the one that adds clue scrolls to drop tables) this might not be needed. But still not a bad idea. 
 

4. I don’t think there needs to be an instance. I think it’s cool seeing the training zone popping off with a bunch of noobs down there. 
 

now for goddess’ talking points. Everything you said for shop restrictions I 100% agree with for Ironman accounts. But I don’t think they needed to be changed for regular accounts. This gives something for a new player to play for right away and get a glimpse at the server. They can grind out a couple items there, or skill to buy them, or do slayer with a scimmy to get it themselves. It creates a bunch of options for gear that isn’t really endgame at all. The one I could agree with is the b ring. Make that from dks only. But it might be too late to do that cuz of how many are in eco. 
 

overall, good suggestion. Good discussion.
