Ely has been going strong for close to 5 years now. We've seen our fair share of ups & downs. We've been from 50+ players to 0 players and then back again to 50+, then back to 0 and back up again. We've spent tens of thousands of dollars on advertisements across all different sites from RSPS toplists, to Google, to Youtube. We've ran some awesome tournaments, competitions and the like. We've pushed out on average 1 solid update per month for over 4 years consistently. We've build an awesome community, whom we reach out to via email, forums & discord. Yet after all these years, we seem to hover around the same number of players on average. With all that said, I've looked at other servers online today. Many of them sit in a near identical state. It's a rare sight to find servers with over 100 players. Login to Ikov, you'll find if your lucky maybe 30 players. What was once pulling nearly 2000 players daily, is now down over 98% in terms of active players. The story repeats with many others, such as their other server Zaro's. Was pulling over 3000+ players, is now "reporting" just over 100-200 players today, over a 90% decrease in activity. The list goes on and on. Our competitors (in the 718 space), Hydrix - is now offline. Onyx, during its peak over 200+ players, is now 0. Dead. Now, what I find most interesting - and was very intentional - is the survival of Ely despite all this. We've been online since 2018 and I've seen literally countless of servers launch, and die. Launch, and die. Launch, and die. Onyx in a long shot hope of revitalizing their server before it's impending death did a full reset and launched Onyx 2.0 - the server is now completely dead. 0 players. Yet Ely lives on. We've far surpassed 95% of servers that were already online, launched, etc. We're still here, and that's awesome. I always vowed Ely would be around as long as I can afford to keep it online - and that promise will always stand. In all this time, the past 4-5 years - OSRS has seemed to grow in popularity. Then they took away the Duel Arena, which people believed was going to be great for RSPS. That was not the case. So much has happened, so much has changed, servers have come and gone. Yet Ely lives on, and continues to improve month over month, year over year. So let's get to my pressing questions. As mentioned in the beginning, we've done just about everything one can do to try to bolster attention and players. Tens of thousands in advertising, tournaments, competitions, giveaways, updates, etc. While sometimes they prove successful in the moment, they don't always stick. Ely has done what many others cannot do: stay online, and maintain an active community/base of players. We're extremely proud of that. We've done all that, with 0 resets to accounts, economy, etc. It's impressive, it really is. It was all intentional, we've planned to do it this way from day 1. If you were the head of the Ely ship, what would you do? You want to see it grow, but despite everything, it seems to always settle back in the same place. We've had many months with player counts over 100+ daily, but that was due to COVID when it first happened, so an anomaly by definition. Despite that outlier, we've had highs and we've had lows. If you wanted to see a consistent growth, a consistent push forward, an increase in activity, players - what would you do? What nontraditional ideas might you try? Considering you've already tried everything else. If you wanted to throw a hail-mary, what might that look like? What would you do? Figured who better to ask, than the players themselves.

Celestial Surgebox from Dungeoneering doesn't work
Lation replied to strangepath's topic in Report a Bug
Have you tried using it, despite it showing empty runes? Just to test if its a graphical bug or not -
This is the first time I saw/read this. This is amazing, was an awesome read. Some mighty interesting jobs & situations you've been in.
-
If I remember correctly, this is by design, do you recall @Splash?
-
If that's how it actually works then yeah I'd say that of course needs to be updated in the way you suggest. I always thought it was already that way, not just resets all hands and re-rolls cause yeah I can see the abuse in that.

And thank you for being here & playing Ely! It's the community that makes this place the best. Have fun man!

First off, Let me start this off with something important. Yes, we got a BANGER of an update here BUT.. But, disclaimer.. This is still a work-in-progress. Yes, we've made incredible progress on Chamber's of Xeric but we have one final thing to do.. and that is to push it live to you guys to give it real, thorough testing. We are severely limited on what we are capable of achieving with 2-3 people testing on the beta server and over the years we've learned the best, most thorough & accurate testing we can get is on the live server. Now it's your turn. Getting Started I won't spell out exactly how to do Chamber's of Xeric for two reasons, #1: I don't know how to do it & #2: it's not 100% 1:1 OSRS (yet). So I'm unsure of the quirks, things that were done differently & so on. But to get started, ;;tele cox & you must be in a Friends Chat with whom you want to Raid with. Then you click on the door to enter the Chamber's & you'll be in the Lobby ready to go! Again, this is a work in progress. Expect there to be issues, bugs, God knows what else. You guys are really going to test and be the true 'beta' testers for Raids as you report what's wrong and we iron out the kinks. Expect this to take some time but we will work to get fixes out as quick as possible as they come in. Nevertheless, it should be fun. I'm excited to see everyone dive in from first-timer's to the sweaty experienced raiders and everyone in between. We've made some incredible progress on it, we're sure you'll see & be able to appreciate. But, go in not expecting 1:1 perfection. Rather, quite the opposite. Go in with the realization that you are a huge part of what will make this a 1:1 incredible experience in the future as we work it out along the way. This is such a large piece of content and so complex & with our Team it's just simply impossible to put out perfection from the door on something like this. With that said, have fun, good luck, enjoy the experience & we look forward to the hilarious bug reports. Last Man Standing The entrance to Last Man Standing can be found at home to the West of the Bank. Simply click the portal to get ready! A minimum of 3 players is required to start. There is also a LMS Leaderboard & clearly I am one of the best at the game hence being #3. One thing to note, there is no points system/reward shop just yet, as we would like to get this content out there for further testing & once all the kinks are worked out we will finish implementing the points system & respective shop. The way it basically works is: You join the queue through the portal at Home. Once in-game, killing a player rewards you with a Chest Key to get better gear. As gear is pulled as seen below: Gives 1-3 items 10% Chance -> Items from Treasure Table (player added items that caan be found in LMS and taken from game if you win) 50% Chance -> Random item with a bonus of 70 or higher taken from member of the game Lobby Remainder -> Alternative Loot Coffers Coffers are awesome. There are supplemental drops to the normal drops you receive. Currently they are mostly obtained via killing Bosses within Ely. There are a slew of Coffers available: However, they require a key to open. All of them require a "Ethereal Coffer Key" besides the Skiller's Coffer (free to open). You can obtain keys only from Voting (Vote Shop) or the Donor Store. When opening a Coffer, there is an animation that plays out visible to all players. They will scatter a bunch of items around and slowly disappear to display only what you received (typically 1-3 items). Every tier of Coffers can reward incredible items albeit has different rarity. For example, I won both these items from the lowest tier Coffer earlier: We are excited to see the loots to be had from these! Final Words As mentioned above numerous times, a lot of this update is really just putting all this content into your hands for further, more full testing. We need you guys to run through it all, find the issues and report back to us here. We truly hope you enjoy!

Don't think I've dropped any bangers for ya'll, so heres one from me:
-
I have already planned on upping the prices of PvM Boxes, but I do not want to change the entire way they were meant to function. Maybe in the future? I just don't see a need, I think these boxes are a banger, we sent them in on the initial update intentionally a little cheap because people wanted a little booster shot to Ely's veins. Now I think we can go to 25k per box and that's about all for now.

Quite the read, you should write a romcom novel, you'd do well

This is the kind of suggestions I like to see. Well presented, well thought-out and just a solid idea. Non-EP donor tickets that give people a rank is I'm always in favor of breaking down tall walls between donor & non-donor. There must always be a distinction, and a clear benefit to outright spend money with us (this is why we still exist after just about 4 years now), but small things like this that expose new players to some of the benefits of being a donor without overdoing it (max $50 rank, no EP is perfect) while also incentivizing voting is just great for the purpose it serves but also opens up the door after max donor rank has been achieved for free it encourages further donating like okay i'm already a 50, these benefits are lit, lets go to 100 & they got a discount on the entire thing. You got my vote & we could likely make this happen, I just would love to see more thoughts/opinions from the players on this.
